A little over 5 * years ago, I adopted a new puppy at a local animal shelter. I was looking for puppy training and Doug and Evelyn Ritter from
Dundee K9 were suggested to me because they offered a discount for rescued pets. Little did I know back then that through the years I would be
going back to Dundee K9 with about 10 more dogs each with different training needs. Some of the dogs were mine and some were shelter dogs
that had not been adopted because of behavior or temperament issues.
What impresses me the most about Doug*s training methods is their effectiveness and gentleness? All training is conducted in a positive and
motivational environment, setting the dogs up to succeed, to gain trust and to earn praise. The dogs love going to training and there is a lot of
excitement and tail wagging when we turn into the drive at Dundee K9.  The product of training at Dundee K9 is a dog that is a well socialized,
happy, confident, and mindful of his handlers* commands. Training at Dundee K9 is not designed to produce an obedience champion but rather
to educate the dog and the handler on how to work together to become a team and for the dog be comfortable in most any environment with
other people or dogs. From the smallest of puppies, the most stubborn of large pit bull terriers, to the feistiest of little Shi-Tzu mixes, Doug*s
training methods has helped them all. Many of the dogs that trained with Doug at Dundee K9 achieved their Canine Good Citizen certification and
the shelter dogs found loving homes.
I also took my lovable but less than social senior Boxer mix to Dundee K9. Within a few short weeks, he was a different dog. Not only was he the
loving family dog we had come to know but now he also was able to enjoy the rest of his years in the company of other people. Yes, you can even
teach a 10 yr old dog new behavior * with the right type of training! The most recent success story started one year ago when I adopted another
rescue. She had been labeled *fear aggressive* and was deemed by some to be unadoptable. Two months of positive reinforcement at Dundee
K9 resulted in a much better adjusted dog that was happy around people and other dogs. She passed her Canine Good Citizen certification and
went on to visit Senior Centers, participated in the Christmas Parade, helped raise money with Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army at the Mall,
and has now become a confident dog that competes in Agility.
And what happened to my little, unwanted puppy, abandoned at the shelter door 5 * years ago? She is an ambassador of her species in the
community and became a certified Therapy Dog. She has logged over 140 visits to Hospitals, Nursing homes and retirement centers. She is a
Hospice volunteer and works with children and young adults affected by cerebral palsy. She educates youngsters in responsible dog owner ship
and how to be safe around dogs. In her spare time she entertains seniors with square dancing routines and she racks up blue ribbon after blue
ribbon in Agility.
Thank you Doug and Evelyn for giving her and all the other four legged fur balls I have brought to you over the years a great start in life with their
best paw forward.

Doug and Evelyn,

Harley is doing great. He's 10 months
old now and just passed his Canine
Good Citizen test last Sunday. The
evaluator said that he has only
passed one puppy in the last 2 years,
not including Harley! Now he just has
to go through his therapy training and
he'll be a certified therapy dog. Also,
he goes to doggie daycare everyday
(at Camp Bow Wow, lol the name
cracks me up!) and he got "Camper
of the Month" this month. Thanks so
much for all of your help, we couldn't
have done it without you! :)
